SHIPPING ADMINISTRATOR

Reporting to our Office Manager, the Shipping Administrator is responsible for the operations of the Shipping Department including the fleet staff. This includes equipment and maintenance as well as staffing and scheduling.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for training, scheduling and directing all truck drivers.
  • Ensure orders are accurately filled and loaded to daily requirements.
  • Quality check all loads, identify short shipments and correct or advise as needed.
  • Ensure sales orders are returned, filed and forwarded to invoicing personnel.
  • Check purchase order against bill of lading and identify short shipments.
  • Monitor and distribute workloads ensuring accurate on time shipments.
  • Liaise with Operations Manager ensuring fleet maintenance is up to date at all times.
  • Responsible for maintaining safety of staff and customers.
  • Maintain a positive relationship with all staff using good communication skills.
  • Instill strong customer service policies with your staff.

Drafting & Design

SASKATOON | DRAFTING & DESIGN

TRUSS DESIGNER

Responsibilities:

  • Designing commercial and residential trusses for local market utilizing truss designing software.
  • Producing roof truss and floor joist layouts.
  • Working with sales and customers to provide solutions for technical issues.
  • Ability to provide quality service and meet competing deadlines.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Architectural and Building Technologies or P. Eng.
  • Experience with MiTek and or Auto-CAD systems is an asset.
  • 3+ years’ experience in commercial and residential truss design.
  • Professional level oral and written communication skills required to effectively interact with staff, customers, contractors and inspectors.

Forklift & Yard

SASKATOON | FORKLIFT & YARD

OUTSIDE FORKLIFT OPERATOR

Responsibilities:

  • Load and unload incoming and outgoing lumber orders.
  • Stage and build lumber packages.
  • Keep yard clean of debris and well organized.
  • Rotate stock.
  • Complete delivery shipping list and all required paperwork for product
  • Assist others as instructed by supervisor.
  • Report any unauthorized persons or suspicious activity to the supervisor or other senior management team member.
  • Conduct daily check of forklift to ensure safe operation and report any required maintenance or damage to the shipping manager daily.
  • Maintain a clean forklift inside and out.

  • Works with a team leader to set up the workstation for each order as directed by the team leader.
  • Assembles trusses and stairs in accordance with the company procedures, SWOP and as instructed by team leader.
  • Regularly inspects and checks the quality of the work being performed as well as the quality of the materials and condition of the equipment; and reports any problems to the team leader.
  • Maintains a clean workstation throughout the shift and especially cleaning up shortly before the end of the shift.
  • Responsible for using all equipment and operating all machinery in a safe, correct and careful manner, as instructed.

Qualifications:

EXPERIENCED SAWYERS

Responsibilities:

  • Regularly inspects the equipment and maintains safe operation at all times, reporting problems to the manager.
  • Undertakes preventative maintenance servicing of the equipment such as cleaning, greasing and lubricating.
  • Cuts and labels or marks lumber in strict accordance with the schedule and procedures for using each saw, furnished by the manager.
  • Regularly inspects the quality of lumber before and after cutting according to the quality inspections guidelines.
  • Completes all cutting reports when required.
  • Notifies forklift driver as required and in accordance with the procedures and standards for each workstation, furnished by the manager.
  • Assists other members of the production team when requested by the manager.
  • Maintains a clean, safe workstation, clear of debris, especially cleaning up shortly before the end of shift.
  • Responsible for using all equipment and operating all machinery in a safe, correct and careful manner as instructed.

Qualifications:

  • Able to operate Speed-Cut Saw (radial arm saw with quick change angles), the Max Cutter, Component Saw, C.N.C. operated saws and other saws as needed.
  • Able to read and understand tape measure in the foot-inch-sixteenth method.
  • Able to read and understand cutting reports.
  • Verbal and written language proficiency (English).
  • Working cooperatively and supportive as a member of a team.
  • Manufacturing industry knowledge, especially related to wood and building manufacturing.
